Our story
Hospitality here is simple, personal, and shaped around how people actually visit.
The Peacock Country Inn has long been part of the landscape in Henton, near Chinnor, offering a place where people can come together in a setting that feels settled and unforced. Set within the Chiltern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it has always suited those looking for a balance between countryside calm and everyday practicality. Over time, The Peacock has grown into a place that serves different needs without losing its sense of ease. Some visit for a relaxed meal or a quiet drink, others for an overnight stay, a gathering, or time away from busier surroundings. What connects these visits is a shared expectation of warmth, consistency, and a place that feels welcoming rather than staged.
Food has always played an important role here. The kitchen focuses on well prepared, seasonal dishes that suit the setting, from familiar pub favourites to meals designed for longer, slower lunches. Service is straightforward and attentive, shaped around comfort rather than formality, whether guests are dining with family, meeting friends, or stopping in during the day. For those staying overnight, the rooms offer a practical and comfortable place to rest, ranging from single rooms to larger self-catering apartments. The aim is not to impress with excess, but to provide what guests actually need: space, quiet, and a setting that supports time spent exploring the surrounding countryside or nearby towns.
At its heart, The Peacock Country Inn remains a place built around hospitality. It values being approachable, well run, and connected to its surroundings, offering guests a setting that feels easy to return to. Whether someone is visiting for a short stay, a meal, or a reason to gather, the intention is the same: to offer a place that feels natural to be in, and simple to enjoy.
